General Gymnastics

Great News! Enrolment is Open for existing members for Summer Term 2024

Our General Gymnastics sessions cater for children from four years upwards and run six days a week across five venues. They provide a fun, safe and friendly environment to help develop core skills such as balance, co-ordination, and aerial awareness. Most of our sessions run for 50 minutes for all ages, however for the gymnasts aged 8 and over with bags of energy, we do run several 90-minute sessions.

Gymnasts are split into small groups where they are encouraged to develop at their own pace on floor skills as well as a wide variety of apparatus.

All gymnasts like to receive recognition for their achievements, and that’s why at Falcon Gymnastics Club we give every gymnast the opportunity to progress through our awards schemes.

Falcon Proficiency Awards – Floor based skills
Falcon Challenge Awards – Apparatus based skills

If you would like to see the moves and skills we teach for our most popular awards, please click ion the links below and view the short video clips.

Proficiency award 5

What activities will gymnasts do at these sessions?

All our sessions start with a fun warm-up to music. The gymnasts then rotate around a variety of workstations, covering floor skills such as forward and backward rolls, cartwheels, headstands, and handstands to name but a few. Each group will also work on equipment including box, beam and trampette depending on the venue.

To assist with the coaching & progression of skills using apparatus, most activities have an additional side station which allows the gymnast to safely practise any feedback the coach has given them during performing the skills on the main apparatus.

Gentle note to parents, due to space constraints within the gyms and from a Health & safety point of view parents are not allowed to stay within the gymnasium during the lessons except when first joining (please see FAQ). However, at the end of each term, parents are invited to “come and watch” sessions, where the gymnasts enjoy showing you the many skills they have learnt during the term.

We are often asked what do the gymnasts need to wear.

For General Gymnastics the following is a good guide. If you are still unsure, please do not hesitate to speak with the Session Leader when you attend your first class, who will be able to help further.

Gymnastics leotard
Leggings / tracksuit bottoms / shorts / t-shirts / sweatshirts
Bare feet
Long hair must always be tied back.
Please remove all items of jewellery before coming to gym i.e. earrings watches, necklaces etc.
Please remember to bring a water bottle.
For a large range of Falcon Gymnastics Club branded clothing please click on the link to Nolimitz, where we have negotiated special rates for Falcon members.

How do gymnasts progress through the club?

Falcon Gymnastics Club is committed to catering for all your gymnasts’ needs and aspirations and has an extensive array of classes for all abilities to seamlessly move between.

For those gymnasts that are aged 8+ and feel 50 mins is never going to be enough time to master all the gymnastic skills needed to become a Champion, then we run several 90 min classes on Monday & Saturday afternoon, especially for them.

As your gymnast’s performance and skill level increases over time our coaches may select them to join our Advanced Gymnastics classes held on Tuesday or Saturday afternoon, both running for 90 minutes. These sessions are by invitation only and are the stepping-stones to being asked to join our Performance Squad and Tops Squad along with our dedicated elite Competition squad.

You may also enjoy our other activities such as Acro Dance & Cheer or Tumbling, Trampetting & Vaulting, or you might have a younger sibling who would enjoy our Pre-School sessions. Whatever you would like to explore, please click on these links for more details.

This is why we do what we do

My two daughters attend Falcon Gymnastics at Maple Tree and love it, they have so much fun and have improved in all their aspects of gymnastics. All the staff are so friendly and are so caring to all the children. I would highly recommend Falcon Gymnastics club.

My daughter absolutely loves her Falcon gymnastics classes at Etonbury. I can see how much she has grown in confidence since she started with the club, and she is always enthusiastic about going to classes. It was fantastic to watch her in action during the penultimate class of the year. All the coaches are so kind, and it is clear the kids are happy with all of them.

That all sounds fantastic! – How do I join?

Please follow the step-by-step guide below:

  1. Click the “Login / Register Now” button. (Please note: all bookings must be completed online).
  2. Create an account by adding your email address to the “Register Now” section and choosing a password.
  3. Once you have registered an account, please log in to your Members Area and click “Add a Child” to enter your child’s details.
  4. Now click “Make a Booking”. If you have been sent a code by Mel, please enter this into the “Booking Code” box and then follow the on-screen instructions to complete your booking and make payment. If you have not been issued a code, please click the “Join a Waiting List”.
  5. You will now be on the waiting list page where you will be able to select the class / venue / session you would like to attend. If you would like to add your child’s name to more than one wating list, you are very welcome to do so
  6. Mel will be in touch as soon as a place becomes available. You will be sent a booking code and instructions on how to book and pay for your sessions. Typically, our wating list is 2-3 weeks long. Please note, if you are offered a place part-way through the term your fees will be adjusted automatically according to how many sessions of the term are remaining.
  7. Once you have successfully made your payment, you will receive an email from Stripe (our online payment partner), and a further email from Falcon welcoming you to club and explaining “what’s next”.
  8. If you are a new member, your first session will be on a trial basis to ensure you enjoy gymnastics with Falcon. Should you decide not to continue, please email mel@falcongym.com within 3 days who will arrange a refund less £10 to cover this first session.
  9. After you have attended your first session, you will be asked to become a member of British Gymnastics (BG). Membership runs yearly from September to August. The club cannot complete this on your behalf due to GDPR rules. Membership to British Gymnastics is mandatory, and no gymnast will be allowed to take part in any session without valid membership. For more information, please see “Become a member of BG”.

How much does it cost?

All general gymnastics classes have a rolling termly subscription of £141 per gymnast.

Our Acro dance session & 8+ sessions (all recreational 90 minute classes) are £185 per gymnast.

The above prices are per term, which over 3 terms represents 36 weeks. (Please note: some individual terms may be longer or shorter, but over the 3 school terms they will always equal 36 weeks).

If you sign up prior to the start of the term, you have 2 payment options: Either pay the termly fee in full which is £141.00 or £185.00 depending on your class, or you can split the payment over 2 instalments, however this method does incur a small additional service charge from our provider and therefore the first payment on sign up is £73.00 or £95.00 with the second instalment also being £73.00 or £95.00 payable about 6 weeks into the term.

And finally

If you reenrol once the term has started, we kindly ask that payment for classes is made in full.

If you are a new member and are allocated a place part-way through the term, the booking system will automatically adjust your fees according to the point in the term at which you are starting.

If you would like to join Falcon Gymnastics Club and take part in any of our classes, click on Register Now and follow the online instructions.
